I was slightly dubious about buying cheaper life-critical equipment but gave it a punt after reading reviews.
Pleasantly surprised at the quality.
I would say best suited to recreational use on flat water. Not suitable for jumping in to water from high vessel due to lack of groin strap which would prevent it riding up over your head. I intend to add a belt or rope to remedy this oversight but wish the makers had added this instead of a "mystery" blue loop on the side for which I can think of no useful purpose.
These don't come with the gas culinders that make them automatic. Therefore they are not automatic when you receive them, despite being described as automatic.
This is a serious safety issue - if you think they automatic inflate but don't, then you could be in big trouble
And what makes it worse is that the standard gas cylinders for other lifejackets dont fit onto these.
Good points. It's cheap enough to be discarded after immersion. It passes my simple test of inflation by mouth and stayed firm for 72 hours. No obvious visual defats. Lighter than my previous jackets and comfortable to wear. Bad points. No CO2 cylinder. No crutch strap. No D ring (is that replaced by the blue strap?). No instructions or facility for service record. One small label but that's in Chinese. Will fit an average frame - I'm 80 kg, may not fit a large person. The plastic buckle is quite flimsy - will it hold when I'm dragged unconscious out of the water? A lifejacket is a safety critical item so the fault of this, and every other review of a lifejacket, is that it has not been tested by a person falling overboard. The manufacturer needs to provide evidence of testing and test statistics.
Genuinely very happy with this life jacket. It arrived earlier than expected. Excellent quality product that's very well made. I'm thinking of getting a couple more.
