Azul Board Game | Family Board Game Description
Inspired by the beauty of blue and white Moorish decorative tiles, the kind of Portugal has invited you, a tile-laying artisan to decorate the Royal Palace of Evora. Grab your tiles and your strategy skills to compete against other players to win the favour of the king and have your designs displayed in the palace!Â
In the game, players take turns to draft coloured tiles from suppliers onto their player board. Later in the round, players score points based on how they've arranged their tiles to decorate the palace. Extra points are scored for specific patterns and completing sets while wasting supplies harms their score. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins!Â
This quick and easy board game is great to play with two to four players and can be completed in just 30 to 40 minutes. Players as young as eight will enjoy this beautifully creative game and it makes an excellent addition to family game night! So what are you waiting for? Azul captures the beautiful aesthetics of Moorish art in a contemporary board game. Players compete as artisans decorating the walls of the Royal Palace of Evora. By carefully drafting the correct quantity and style of tiles, the most clever of artisans plan ahead to maximize the beauty of their work (not to mention their scores!) while ensuring they wasted no supplies in the process. Introduced by the Moors, 'azulejos' (originally white and blue ceramic tiles) were fully embraced by the Portuguese, when their King Manuel I, on a visit to the Alhambra palace in Southern Spain, was mesmerized by the stunning beauty of the Moorish decorative tiles. The king, awestruck by the interior beauty of the Alhambra, immediately ordered that his own palace in Portugal be decorated with similar wall tiles.

Great quality parts in the box. All well made and sturdy. I bought this as a family game for 10 year old up.It's going to be a bit of a challenge to get through the instructions. Times that I wish someone would be here to just show us. So I'll maybe 'you tube' for clarity.
The basic principles are collecting tiles of your own to shift around your board to fill the gaps. Chance and strategy but no in your face ' game play' against the opponent. 2-4 players. I'd allow a good hour for your first set up and play.
A plus for me is the box size. Compact due to player boards being exactly the same size. Btw.This game needs a table surface about 3ft square for comfort.
