Looking to buy Godiva?
Underpinning the brand is an authenticity uncommon in other chocolatier artisans, with a passion that flows from a rich and interesting heritage. The original 1926 logo reflects the spirit of the company, paying homage to the time and place where their story first began, and the celebrated namesake who has become so inextricably linked to their passion and values today.
One of the country’s most popular luxury chocolate brands, Godiva has almost 100 years’ experience creating unique and delicious flavours. Ensuring that their confectionery is always scrumptious, striking, and exclusive (often packaged in a universally recognised premium gold box), the chocolate’s inimitable formula is unbeaten on taste and texture combined.
Today, Godiva continues to build its worldwide presence and footprint through expansion into new and wonderful creations, with plans to launch around 2000 cafés worldwide in the coming months and years. After all, there really is nothing better than chocolate, and no better chocolate than this!
The history of Godiva
In 1926, Pierre Draps began crafting chocolates in his Brussels-based confectionery workshop, seeking to delight his young wife. The family were deeply inspired by the legend of Lady Godiva, who was cemented in Anglo-Saxon legend when she rode naked (covered only by her long hair) through the streets of Coventry, to gain a remission of the oppressive taxation laid down by her noble husband. The first shop was opened to great commercial success in the Grand Palace, alongside values so commonly associated with their bold, generous, and pioneering namesake.
By the 1950s, the company had become incredibly popular worldwide, with new stores opening in France and the United States. By this time, Pierre Draps Jr. had perfected the Truffe Originale masterpiece, an iconic dark mousse creation that remains one of Godiva’s most loved chocolates today. In recent years, the company has been known to own and operate more than 450 shops worldwide, with a dedicated café even being opened by Harrods in May 2012.
What makes Godiva chocolate so special?
As with many luxury chocolate brands, the superior finish lies in the delicate preparation. Godiva chocolates are well-known for their exceptional quality and blend of unique flavour combinations, both derived from sumptuous, GMO-free ingredients and sustainable, ethical sources. From moulding to extrusion, enrobing to double-dipping, there aren’t many techniques not employed by their chocolatiers. Hand-piped decorations and expert calligraphy simply finish each work of art with style and sophistication, leaving every customer with a little piece of delicious Belgian history.
