Looking to buy Electronics & Technology Adapters?
When you’re dealing with electronic devices, there are lots of different cables and adapters that you may need to utilise, but not all of these will come in the box with your new tablet, smartphone, or laptop. In general, the only cables and adapters in your box will be those that are fundamental to the functionality of the device, with the rest excluded and available for purchase at a later date. Whilst this is a very economical stance, it can be frustrating, particularly if you’re moving to a device that’s not from the same suite as your current devices, as this can mean that different cable adapters are needed in order to connect and utilise your new tech. If you’re wondering which are the most common cable types that you may need to purchase for your new laptop, smartphone, or electronic tablet, check out our quick guide below!
What types of adapter might you need for your tablet?
Micro-USB to USB is a common cable that’s used for a number of different purposes, but the main functions are for connecting your tablet or smartphone to a charger plug or to another device such as a laptop or desktop computer. Micro-USB can be found on many Android devices. However, it is not present on Apple devices, so if you’re switching between these brands you may find that you need to find an Apple to Android adapter cable.
For many modern devices, USB-C is becoming the most widely used connector type across different electronics manufacturers, including Apple for some of their latest MacBooks and iPads! The USB-C connector is simple, clean, and adaptable, making it a great fit for most modern devices where production and accessories are being targeted as key places to reduce waste. The USB-C cable has also been found to be much more efficient when looking to transfer data between devices and charge phones and tablets too, helping you to make use of your technology in the most effective way possible.
Since most computers don’t have USB-C slots yet, USB-C to USB cables and adapters are the most common, but there are more USB-C to USB-C cables around than you might think, particularly for modern devices that utilise charger cables with power blocks. Whilst these are usually more specific to laptop use, where a higher power level is required to recharge the battery, it’s not unheard of for other devices to require this charger cable too. Of course, the adapters aren’t just used for charging; you can use a USB-C to USB-C adapter to connect two devices using the same port styles, which can be useful when updating software, transferring data or using devices as a second screen!
Lightning port adapters are Apple-specific ports that are primarily used for charging and connecting devices to one another. Whilst the port is most commonly associated with phones and tablets, the lightning cable is also used for AirPods, Apple’s leading range of earphones that are a major part of their product ecosystem.
