Kinesio Equine Tape Description
BROWN, YELLOW or GREEN
The Original Tape, the Leading Brand, DIRECT from the manufacturer.
Examples of how Kinesio Taping can be used within Equine:
Tendon injuries in racehorses. Racehorses often suffer from tendon injuries and Kinesio Taping is used to protect, support and strengthen their tendons from further injury while they recuperate.
Muscle weakness and wasting after fractured pelvis. A horse that fractured its pelvis was on box rest for six weeks and lost a significant amount of muscle in its quarters. Kinesio Tape was used in conjunction with electrical stimulation to help and the horse has now fully recovered.
Elongated tendons in a foal. A common problem in new born foals where they rest their legs (fetlocks) on the ground rather than their hooves, leading to poor gait as they mature. Applying Kinesio Tape can help the contraction of the tendon as the foal grows.
After surgery for ‘kissing spines’. This is a fairly common, painful equine condition often caused by an ill-fitting saddle where the bony ‘spines’ at the top of the horse’s vertebrae start to rub together, causing pain and swelling, especially on moving. This horse was back to normal after around five weeks of treatment.Kinesio Equine tape is specifically designed for the unique needs of the equine athlete and its different anatomy. We spent time in the research and development of equine tape because we wanted to create a tape for horses, and not just use the human tape. We think horses deserve a tape made specifically for them, and we think horse lovers worldwide will agree. Like the original Kinesio Tex® Tape this tape is the same weight and thickness of skin so it moves with the body, and is water resistant.
What makes Kinesio Equine tape different is how it works with the skin of a horse. Horses have skin with a lot more hair than humans so the tape needs to stick differently. Kinesio Equine tape has a stronger adhesive which helps it stay on longer and it has a natural flavor additive that horses don’t like so it discourages them from chewing the tape off. Kinesio Equine tape also works directly on the horse hair to stimulate the skin underneath.
