Found naturally in North Mexico and Texas, bring the beauty of the peyote cactus to your home with this pack of 20 peyote seeds from Saflax.
Completely spikeless, the peyote cactus is small. hemisphere-shaped and grows to around 8-15 centimetres. It's a striking succulent year-round and around spring and summer time, it'll produce little pink flowers which simply charm!
How do I cultivate these peyote seeds?
You can propagate them indoors throughout the year. Spread your seeds out in fine potting compost or cactus soil that's about 25% sand, moistened lightly with water.
Cover your seed container with a clear film to stop the soil drying out; make sure you add holes to the film and take it off completely every few days for a couple of hours - this helps avoid mould forming.
Place your seed container somewhere warm and bright at a temperature between 20-25°C, making sure to keep the soil moist but not wet. You should see the first seedlings in 1-2 weeks!
Where should I keep the peyote cactus?
The cactus likes plenty of light - try placing it on a sunny windowsill throughout the year. In the summer, you can move it outside but make sure it's sheltered from wind and rain. As soon as temperatures drop below 10°C, bring it back inside.
How do I care for the peyote cactus?
Water your cactus with lime-deficient water only after the soil has completely dried out. Make sure you avoid waterlogging. Top tip: the best way to water it is to fill its saucer with water for a couple of hours, ensuring you remove the remaining water once it's saturated. Adding liquid fertiliser every 3-4 weeks is advised.

They've grown, the first cactus I've brought on from seed, they might be only little buttons at the moment but I'm sure they'll flourish into fully grown cacti given the right environment. Thanks OnBuy
I bought 2 packs of these seeds. 8/40 seeds have germinated so far (10 days since sown using a propagator) not the best rate but hopefully more will pop over the next few weeks. I wanted to grow a Loph Williamsii for my collection so hopefully one or two will make it to full size. Overall I am happy though, seeds can be a hit or a miss so I never give terrible reviews because there is some skill involved with germinating cacti seeds.
