Lettuce (Cos) Moonred Description

Unwins Cos Lettuce Moonred Seeds will give you little Gem-style heads with a wonderfully glossy red outer leaves. This compact lettuce also has a dense green heart.

Moonred has a crisp, crunchy texture and is rich in antioxidants. This variety also shows good disease resistance and is seen as a reliable lettuce.

Quick to grow

Sow: March to July
Harvest: May to September

Sowing
Sow thinly 1 cm deep in trays or modules of firm, pre-watered compost and cover lightly if desired. Place in a warm spot at 10-15 C and keep moist at all times.

Growing On / Planting Out
After the risk of frost has passed, plant seedlings into the harvest position 25 cm apart, with 30 cm between rows, when plants have 3-4 true leaves. Alternatively, sow thinly 1 cm deep directly in the harvest location. Keep soil moist and thin to 25 cm apart.

Advice
Keep well watered. Small sowings every 3 weeks will ensure a continuous supply. Use netting to protect from birds and insects. Moonred produces Little Gem-style heads with glossy red outer leaves and a dense green heart, is crisp and crunchy, rich in antioxidants, and shows good disease resistance.
