Product DescriptionThe OEMTOOLS 25261 5 Piece Pickle Fork Kit can be used as a ball joint separator tool a tie rod end removal tool and a Pitman arm tool. This 5 piece car kit has two different handles one for use with a hand hammer and one for use with an pneumatic hammer. The parts of this set come in standard sizes for automotive suspension work; the ball joint removal tool has a 15/16"" jaw opening the tie rod tool has an 11/16"" spread and the Pitman arm wedge has a 1-1/8"" opening. All pieces in this front end service kit have been heat treated for extra strength and durability. Pickle forks are best used as a tie rod removal tool or a ball joint remover when the tie rod or ball joint is being replaced as the pickle fork process could damage or undermine the quality of the rubber boot on either part. A pickle fork ball joint separator is great for ball joint replacement though as it is able to remove stubborn and stuck ball joints. Using a ball joint fork prevents attempts that hit the steering knuckle directly with a hammer which sends that force through the suspension system and could lead if missed to unintended damage.
