When it comes to pressure washers, there are two main options: electric and petrol. Each type has its own advantages, so it can be tricky to decide which one is right for you, but in this blog post, we’ll explore the differences between the two and help you decide which one is the best choice.

Electric pressure washers

Electric is a great choice for those who are looking for a lightweight and portable power washer. They are also typically quieter than petrol-powered models, making them ideal for those who live in residential areas where noise levels need to be kept down.

Electric pressure washers typically have a lower pressure rating than petrol models, which makes them handy for more delicate cleaning tasks like washing cars or decking. They're also more affordable than petrol models, so kinder on your wallet.

On the downside, electric pressure washers require an electric outlet to operate unless you opt for a cordless electric pressure washer. The good news is cordless jet washers will easily be able to cope with most cleaning jobs at home, if you want that freedom from a power cord.

Petrol pressure washers

Petrol pressure washers are a great choice for those who need a lot of power or are looking for a machine that won't be tied down by a cable - ideal if you need a commercial pressure washer for taking on the road. These models have higher pressure ratings than electric models, making them ideal for tasks such as removing graffiti or cleaning driveways.

However, because of that extra pressure, they tend to come with a more premium price tag. Additionally, they are heavier and noisier than electric models, so they may not be the best choice if you're planning on using them regularly in a residential area.

Which pressure washer is right for you?

When it comes to picking the right pressure washer, it will come down to whether you're using it mostly for cleaning tasks at home - like washing the car, decking and patio - or commercially where you need a lot of power.

If you're looking for a lightweight and convenient power washer, an electric model is the best choice. If you need a lot of power and a pressure washer that you can take on the road, choose petrol.

The good news is there are great pressure washers from top brands available for both electric and petrol models.

You'll find trusted Karcher pressure washers, Bosch pressure washers, and Black & Decker pressure washers, as well as emerging names like Muc-Off pressure washers.
