OnBuy Requirements

Selling with OnBuy is simple and our friendly, UK-based team is on hand to support you. Before you start the registration process, please review the requirements below and ensure that you can meet them.

Proven Sales Record

You’ll need to demonstrate your online sales experience by providing examples of your alternative online sales channels. You will have current visibility on the web with adequate sales volume and positive feedback from customers who have purchased your products. Typically we would look for evidence of 50 reviews at 90% or higher positive feedback in the last 12 months from reputable public sources*.

GTINs

OnBuy manages a catalogue system therefore you'll need GTINs in order to list your products. Most consumer items have a manufacturer's GTIN (EAN/UPC/ISBN) we verify all GTINs with GS1.

A GTIN exemption is available on application for certain once-off/one-of-a-kind products that fall only within these categories: Arts & Antiques, Handmade & Custom Items, Collectables, Jewellery and Car Parts. If you are unsure or don't have GS1 GTINs for your products, please contact us so we can assist you.

PayPal

You’ll need a PayPal Business account to sell on OnBuy. PayPal provides our payment mechanism and all fund distribution is actioned through it. Payment is fast and easy as soon as your item is marked as dispatched, the funds will be transferred into your PayPal account. Eligible orders are covered for 180 days by PayPal Seller Protection.

Registered Businesses

We only work with registered businesses and we require our retailers to upload some basic business documents during sign-up.

Not an incorporated business? Sole Traders in the UK may sign-up by providing evidence of registration with HMRC for Self Assessment.

Returns and Warranties

You’ll need to provide a UK returns address, or agree to cover the cost of any overseas returns. We require that you offer a 30-day returns policy with a full refund as standard, which starts from the day delivery takes place (please note there are certain exceptions for personalised products, digital downloads and perishable goods). Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, all retailers must offer up to 180-day returns for faulty goods.

Products

We require that you do not list for sale any products that fall within our Prohibited Products Policy, are counterfeit or violate the intellectual property rights of the product or brand owner.
