SVS PB4000 Subwoofer Gloss Black Description
The new SVS PB4000 Subwoofer combines impressive power and low frequency extension with unparalleled refinement and musicality in order to provide you with the best possible listening experience regardless of whether you are using it for music or movie soundtracks. Borrowing technology from the SVS 16-Ultra Series, the PB4000 will deliver a response that is nothing short of spectacular.
High Excursion SVS Subwoofer Driver
The SVS PB4000's subwoofer driver will utilise the full potential of the Sledge STA-1200D amplifier, offering immense power and precision with enough control to produce SPL and achieve low frequency extension precisely over all drive levels. The dual ferrite magnet motor assembly within this subwoofer weighs a mere 40lbs and generates an immense magnetic force, and the excursion of the 13.5” will allow the PB4000 to produce a mammoth low frequency output – so low that it below the limits of human hearing. An edge wound voice coil with eight-layer aluminium flat wire works to minimise distortion and compression, all the while ensuring excellent heat dissipation and linearity to achieve precise control through the subwoofer. Within this subwoofer, a lightweight and rigid composite cone can be found. This cone uses a premium glass fibre dust cap in order to generate a massive output with pinpoint accuracy throughout the frequency response.
Sledge Amplifier and Fully Discrete MOSFETs
The SVS PB4000 Subwoofer features the Sledge STA-1200D amplifier, a Class-D amplifier that has been rated at 1200 watts RMS with 4000+ watts peak power. Combined with the fully discrete MOSFET output and a sophisticated Analog Devices DSP engine, this amplifier will produce effortless power and advanced processing at an unprecedented level that is not available from any other powered subwoofer currently on the market. The efficiency of a Class-D amplifier with the ability to move large quantities of current through the discrete MOSFETs will allow an extremely large output and enable precise control for this subwoofer no matter what drive level it is operating at.
Variable Port Tuning Modes
Foam port plugs allow for variable tuning, with each response curve over the three port tuning modes (standard, extended, sealed) fully configured to each mode respectively in order to achieve balanced and accurate low frequency response over all tuning preferences.
Active Power Factor Correction and Ground Loop Isolation
The SVS PB4000 Subwoofer features active power factor correction to deal with wide fluctuations in voltage, serving as a line conditioner, surge suppressor and voltage regulator. This PFC will make sure that the subwoofer itself is operating perfectly on any household circuit regardless of how unstable an incoming current is. The isolated circuit will create a low noise floor through elimination of potential ground loop hums emitted from outside components, thus resulting in sonic transparency that is as best as it could possibly be.
Acoustically Inert Ported Box Cabinet Design
When it comes to its design, the SVS PB4000 Subwoofer features an inlaid front panel display, three front-firing, high-flow bass ports, rounded edges, and a curved metal grille on the cabinet. These design characteristics will ensure it remains elegant in its aesthetics, allowing it to fit seamlessly within any existing home hi-fi / home cinema system setup.
A double thick, two inch MDF front baffle and rigid internal bracing support the drive unit and ensures an acoustically inert environment. The highly reinforced internal design and acoustic insulation then works to eliminate any and all colouration or resonance from the cabinet, even when the deepest of low frequencies are played at reference volume. To top it off, a protective, non-resonant steel-mesh grille and custom elastomer feet are included to reduce noise artefacts within a room, whilst a 2-way feedback will display updates in real time on both the app and the subwoofer's own interface.
SVS PB4000 Control App
This convenient little app will make control and management of the SVS PB4000 Subwoofer that much easier, with connection achievable via Bluetooth technology, this app will allow you to control the subwoofer even when the unit is out of sight. This app features 3-band parametric control capabilities, allowing you to make precise and accurate adjustments to frequency slope and Q factor, all the way down to the single Hz level, with four different slopes. This means that users are able to improve the PB4000's performance through the elimination of peaks, nulls and other room issues.
The control app allows you to store 3 different presets for movies, music and more. And 2-way feedback shows updates in real time on the app and the subwoofer's interface. The App can be found and downloaded for free via the Apple iOS AppStore for iPhones and iPod devices, and via Google Play Store for Android devices.
