The VR-IMU utilizes the impressive BNO080 IMU. The IC features a combination of three accelerometers, gyroscopes, and magnetometers, which, together with the ARM M0+, execute powerful algorithms. The BNO080 Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) generates precise rotation vectors, ideal for VR and other directional applications, with a maximum static rotation error of 2 degrees. The IC is designed for use in Android-based smartphones and performs all calculations required for virtual reality headsets exclusively via the smartphone. The sensor is very powerful, and the power supply is highly complex. An I2C-based library is provided, offering rotation vectors (which most people want to read from IMUs), as well as acceleration, gyroscope, and magnetometer values, step counter, activity sorter (such as cycling), and calibration. The VR-IMU has a demo processing application to show how the IMU's motion can precisely manipulate 3D objects using the IMU's quaternion output. This version features integrated 32 kHz crystals for improved accuracy and more precise timestamping. Interfaces: The BNO080 can communicate via a variety of interfaces. The Qwiic VR IMU features two interfaces, allowing the user to choose their preferred interface.
