The dropout plate that fits between the EGR valve and cooler is made from laser cut 1.5mm stainless steel. The cooler plate is 2mm stainless steel and has been milled to make it smooth and give it a worn surface for a better seal.
The MK7 and MK8 Transit suffered from leaking EGR coolers. This can give the impression that the cylinder head gasket has blown. Two things can happen. (1) Exhaust gases leak into the engine coolant which pressurizes the system and blows water out. I know of quite a few engines damaged due to this problem.
(2) When left standing, water is forced into the intake system which can cause hydraulic lock and also damage the engine.
There are two different types of EGR coolers. Round tube type and square section tube type. The kit has 3 plates, one that fits over the EGR valve end of the cooler, and 2 plates (the larger one) so one can be installed between the exhaust manifold and the EGR cooler. Only one is installed, corresponding to the EGR cooler type.
Applicable Models:
It fits Euro 4 and Euro 5 engines
for Ford Transit MK7 Transit from 2006 onwards with 2.2 and 2.4 TDCi PUMA engines (PUMA ZSD-422 and ZSD-424) and 3.2L 5 cylinder.
Land Rover 2007 with 2.4 PUMA engine 2007 onwards And taxis with the same engine
