This is the first product in a series of ultra-low capacitance electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection devices. Single line ESD protection device, providing 0.5 picofarads (pF) capacitance and low clamping voltage.
This component adopts the smallest packaging suitable for ESD protection applications, making it very suitable for high-speed data line protection in portable applications such as mobile phones, MP3 players, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and digital cameras.
With the increasingly smaller geometric dimensions and lower operating voltages used in updated integrated circuit technologies, portable products that are constantly being updated are becoming more sensitive to ESD voltage damage.
At the same time, portable electronic systems also require lower capacitance to maintain signal integrity for their high-speed data line applications.

The traditional off chip protection solution based on silicon transient voltage suppression () diodes provides low clamping voltage and fast response time, but their large capacitance limits their use in high-speed applications.
Competitive off chip protection technologies such as polymers and ceramic varistors provide low capacitance, but their high ESD clamp voltage limits their ability to protect highly sensitive ICs from ESD damage.
The use of HD protectors is an ideal solution for high-speed applications of space limited products such as smartphones, MP3 players, PDAs, and digital cameras that convert high-definition HD interfaces.
