Each lock features a cam-type locking mechanism that mounts on the checkrail of the innermost sash and engages into the checkrail of the outermost sash. The upper outermost sash on vertical sliding windows determines if it is a single hung or double hung. If the upper outermost sash is non-movable then it is a single hung window. A double hung window refers to both sash having the ability to slide up and down for ventilation purposes and these sash locks can fit on both model types in addition to some left/right horizontal sliding windows. The locks are constructed of diecast zinc and come in a corrosion-resistant industry standard white-painted finish to match other existing hardware that may already be in the home or office.
