This product is a kit for a shortwave antenna, including a base plate and fixed structure, suitable for use with 20 mm diameter support rods or tubes and wire vibrators for convenient antenna construction (insulating tubing and vibrator must be prepared).
The kit contains a 5 mm thick epoxy base plate, measuring 270 mm x 140 mm, CNC-machined holes for precise positioning, a 2.5 mm thick stainless steel mounting mechanism, 12 sets of U-shaped mounting plates, and matching screws and nuts (see illustration), all made of stainless steel.
The MOXON antenna can be considered a deformed 2-unit. The feed point impedance is 50 ohms; it can be fed directly, or it's better to add a 1:1 Barron. The maximum gain is about 6 dBi, but the front-to-back ratio (F/B) is amazing and can reach more than 25 dB. The bandwidth is excellent, and the radiation angle is more than 70 degrees, making it very suitable for radio racing. It also makes a practical field-hook antenna. When used in the high-frequency range (12 m, 10 m, 6 m) and when looking for an inexpensive antenna, a 20 mm PVC pipe construction can be used. With flexible PVC pipes, the sag problem must be considered and compensated for beforehand. When used in the 15-meter band or below, you must carefully select a high-hardness insulating material as a support tube.
