A column lock failure can disable these C5 Corvettes: All 97-04 manual trans, 97-00 auto trans, 01-04 European export auto trans. Note: Only US Domestic 01-04 w/auto trans are not susceptible to a column lock failure. Recall work has disabled the physical column lock in most C5s, but failures can still occur in these Corvettes resulting in Pull Key, Wait 10 Seconds and Service Column Lock messages, and the dreaded 2 mph fuel cut-off. If your C5's steering wheel still locks with the key out, a failure can cause all of the above problems, AND leave the steering wheel stuck locked. The LMC5 simulates a perfectly functioning column lock system, installs easily in the passenger footwell, makes no permanent modifications to your Corvette, and requires NO removal or alteration of any recall procedures or any other column lock replacement device.
