I’ve moved from some Bose qc35. I’ve used the Sony headphones mowing the lawn and for 2 8 hour flights to/from the US.
Thoughts, the noise reduction is not as good as the Bose, I feel the Bose seal to the side of my head is better.
The Sony have some neat features, but seem poorly executed. The active noise cancellation sometimes just drops out and you have to turn it back on. There is a transparency mode, where your voice is heard, this is a nice feature, however I turned it off to try and keep the noise cancelling on. This tactic helped, but didn’t fix things.
I get the feeling that the headphones can adapt its noise cancelling according to the surrounding noise. I’ve caught it a couple of times, recalibrating and being really good after, then 5 minutes later it would do it again and get worse. It’s frustrating because you want to have a button that can either go back, or will force a recalibration.
The technology has a lot of potential, but needs fixing, when the headphones are outclassed by an 8 year old pair with a simple on/off switch on the side, it sounds like style over substance.
I’m regretting not getting another pair of bose
