CAN-BUS is a common industrial bus due to its long range, medium communication speed, and high reliability. It is frequently found in modern machine tools and as a diagnostic bus for motor vehicles. Thanks to CAN-BUS, manufacturers can more easily hack their vehicles. The CAN-BUS Shield V2 continues to use the MCP2515 as the CAN-BUS controller and the MCP2551 as the CAN transceiver. The OBD-II or CAN standard pin assignment can be changed by switching the DB9 interface. The default pin assignment is OBD-II. A TF card slot for data storage is integrated; the pin can be set to either D4 or D5. The pin can also be set to D2 or D3 by switching it on the back of the shield.
