Looking to buy Graphics Tablets?

Whether you’re just learning how to draw, or you’re an experienced artist looking to expand your skillset and digitise your work, a graphics tablet is an ideal way to do just that. Get to grips with these impressive pieces of technology and create amazing digital artwork!

What Are Graphics Tablets?

A graphics tablet (also known as a drawing tablet, pen tablet, or digital art board) is a computerised device that enables you to hand-draw images, animations and graphics with a special pen-like stylus straight onto a computer program. It works in similarly to the way you draw with a pencil and paper but the image you create is digital. These tablets may also be used to take notes, capture data or record handwritten signatures. You can also use one to trace off an image from a piece of paper which is taped over the top of the tablet, reducing the need for lightboxes and tracing paper.

These devices consist of a flat surface upon which the user may "draw" or trace an image, and a stylus which is used as the pen or pencil. The image is then shown on the computer screen, although some graphics tablets also incorporate an LCD screen so it feels more like you are drawing naturally.

How To Use Graphics Tablets

The most common drawing tablets such as Wacom tablets connect to your computer via USB cable. They display your drawing in real-time on the screen, allowing you to draw, erase, colour, and edit your images quickly and efficiently Alternatively, you can also find ones that are on a screen so you can see what you’re drawing without having to look up at a separate screen. Choosing the right one depends on how you prefer to draw.

Use a paired stylus pen to draw your design on the surface of the tablet. It will recognise the pressure you apply and track your pen, imitating the strokes and marks you make and transferring them to the screen.

Why not try scanning your physical artwork into your computer and use your tablet to enhance it? Erase smudges, improve the linework, and add incredible colours to create a masterpiece. From there, you can save it as a digital version and use it for things like stickers and art prints if you so wish! If you have a physical image you want to copy but don’t have a scanner to use, simply attach it to the surface of the tablet and use it to trace the image. You can then use all kinds of brushes, colours, and techniques to turn it from something drab into something fab!
