The hair curler materials on offer
When it comes to automatic hair curlers, there are four main materials that the barrel is likely to be made of. The first is ceramic, and this is, unsurprisingly, the most popular. Able to spread heat evenly, while smoothing out any kinks, ceramic curling tongs work by raising the temperature of your hair from the inside out, which helps to trap moisture and reduce damage. It’s ideal for thinner hair, which may not be able to cope with the intense heat of high-temperature curlers, and can be used to achieve a number of styles and up-dos.
Among stylists, the most sought-after barrel material is titanium. Durable and lightweight, it can retain higher temperatures for a longer period of time, offering quick heating from the outside in. In the wrong hands, however, this material can cause damage over time, so it’s generally best for thicker hair that can withstand higher temperatures. The other two available options are tourmaline (an incredible stone material that helps to fight dry, dull or frizzy hair) and gold-plated curlers, though these tend to come with a heftier price-tag.
The different curler types
As you may have guessed, there are a number of different hair curler types on offer, and, lucky for you, we stock a wide variety of each (for every budget and preference). If you don’t know where to start, or are a novice in the world of heat styling, it’s best to opt for some tongs first, as these can provide a great introduction to curling in general. They typically feature a clamp, which holds your hair and ends in place as your curl, and distribute heat more evenly, offering more control. You can easily create beachy and Hollywood glam looks with these specific tools, whatever your desired occasion or experience level. Cordless hair curlers are available here, and provide you with a greater level of comfort and practicality whenever you fancy a re-style, too.
Hair curling wands, on the other hand, involve no clamp at all, and allow you to wrap a section of hair around the barrel instead. This option is great if you have damaged ends, because you can keep them away from the heat more efficiently. Dyson hair curlers, alongside BaByliss curling wands, GHD curling wands, and Remington curling wands, are perhaps the most popular models on the market.
