This is the stuff that really works!
Yes, the instructions are in Chinese but with a little research I established that you need 1 teaspoon to 1 litre of water. I mix mine in a spray bottle and shake really well.
The best time to use it for best results is from end April or earlier if the weather is sunny and warm as this encourages the caterpillars to hatch and start munching your box and the cycle begins for another year.
Avoid spraying when rain is forecast as you need the solution to dry on the leaves and especially the young shoots as they love these. Spray again a week later and for a third time a week after that. The solution once ingested by the caterpillars causes them to dehydrate and die.
You will then need to watch for further activity later (around 6-8 weeks) and repeat the process. You may need to spray for a third cycle if the weather stays warm.
The caterpillars create a dense cobweb around themselves to deter predators so keep a look out for these and spray.
Don’t cut your box when you have recently sprayed as you will remove the coated leaves. When I trim mine I leave it a week before spraying.
I have been spraying my box throughly (really really soaking the leaves) with this for the last 2 years and had been struggling to find it. I have lots of topiary box , many grown from cuttings and over 20 years old, and am glad to have found something that actually works. But you do have to repeat spay!
Good luck
