Synopsis:
Grace Burnham was a doctor in New York. In the 1890s, she went to a remote plantation in Colombia to try to treat a mentally ill boy. This child seems to have inexplicable abilities, perhaps killing his own mother. Burnham's intervention sparked opposition from religious figures in the village, who believed that the boy was possessed by evil spirits and was the root of the pain and trouble suffered by the local community. In an era where religious fanaticism was prevalent and psychiatry was considered a trick, the locals completely looked down upon a woman from out of town who came with scientific knowledge.
