Subject Detection A revolutionary algorithm developed using deep learning allows the Z9 to automatically detect and track the widest variety of subjects in the world (people, dogs, cats, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, trains, and airplanes) in both photos and videos, without changing menus. The smallest and fastest AF and AE calculations occur at 120 cycles per second, thanks to continuous and rapid communication between the camera and the lens via the Z mount. Even small, unstable subjects, such as flying birds, can be easily tracked. Enhanced Focus Eye-detection AF automatically tracks the eyes of people, dogs, cats, and birds (and other similar creatures), even if they are small in the frame, covered by hair, glasses, or gloves, upright or upside down. Effortlessly lock onto fast-moving subjects and follow their movement towards you, away from you, and everywhere in between. Create Your Own Zones Sometimes, you need precise control over the focus of your Z9. With 20 custom options for extended area autofocus (C1/C2), you can define the shape of your focus area. Your custom focus area will even work simultaneously with subject detection and Eye-Detect AF functions. In the Dark Subject detection and autofocus work down to -6.5 EV. Activate Star Light mode and focus down to -8.5 EV. And since you'll be spending more time in the dark, the Z9's buttons are illuminated.
