Synopsis:
The drama is adapted from the bestselling novel of the same name by British author Gillie Cooper, the second book in the Rathshire Chronicles series.
The novel takes place in the fictional high society of Rathshire, where Declan O'Hara (played by Aidan Turner) joins the brutal Corinim television station. He is a charismatic and upright celebrity, with a glamorous vase wife named Maud (played by Victoria Smofit), a handsome son, and two charming teenage daughters.
Rupert Campbell Black (played by Alex Hassell), who lives across the valley, is a former Olympic athlete, Member of Parliament, and notorious playboy. He has been divorced and continues to be a libertine, now serving as the Conservative Party's Minister of Sports.
His neighbor is his long-time competitor Tony Badingham (played by David Tennant), the general manager of Corinim Television, and his wife Monica (played by Claire Rashbrook) has no interest in her husband's job. Tony also has a charming younger brother, Basil Bas Badingham (played by Luke Pasquinino), who runs a popular bar.
Declan realized shortly after working at the television station that Tony hired him only to help the station retain its franchise rights. Not only that, the beautiful but domineering Cameron Cook (played by Nafisa Williams), a talented American television executive, is also brought by Tony to Corinim to produce Declan's new prime time talk show. Declan and Cameron disliked each other, triggering a storm of debate, and Rupert threw himself into it in his usual way.
On the other hand, Freddie Jones (played by Danny Dyer) is a self-made electronics millionaire. He got the money, but found out that he and his wife Valerie (played by Lisa McGrath) were outsiders to the Rathill Group.
Sarah (played by Emily Attack), the newlywed wife of Deputy Prime Minister Paul Stratton (played by Rufus Jones) who is in a midlife crisis, is ambitious and not afraid to use her appearance to reach her peak.
Romantic novelist Lizzie Wicker (played by Katherine Parkinson) has always been overlooked by her self-centered TV host husband James Wicker (played by Oliver Kris), who loves to dress up.
With the emergence of a competitor to promote the franchise of this movie, the maturity and decline of fame, the blossoming and burning of true love, the establishment and breakdown of marriage... the race for the Cotswold Crown begins in bed and in the conference room.
