Looking to buy Plasters?
Plasters, also called sticking plasters, medical plasters or adhesive bandages are an essential item for any first aid kit. They are used to cover and protect cuts, scrapes, and other types of wounds. Keeping the wound clean, dry, and covered with a plaster can significantly help the healing process.
What are plasters are made from
They're made from two parts: an absorbent pad that will soak up any blood or other fluid that the wound gives off, while providing some padding to stop dirt from getting into the wound. The pad is held in place by the other part of the plaster, a piece of material that's extremely sticky on one side. The adhesive is typically a hypoallergenic, medical-grade adhesive that is used to secure the plaster in place.
These plasters come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colours to meet different needs. For example, some are shaped like a circle or oval while others are contoured to fit around joints or fingers. They also come in different sizes so they can be used on small cuts or larger scrapes.
Most plasters are coloured bright white or orange to be easy to see, but you can also find brightly coloured children's plasters featuring cartoon characters or sports teams. At OnBuy you'll find plasters from some of the most famous first aid brands, like Elastoplast and Compeed, on sale as well, so you can be sure they'll stay in place!
Types of plasters
There are many different types of plasters available, each designed to a different type of common injury. For example, fabric plasters are made from lots and lots of tightly woven fibres. Together these fibres are extremely strong but they still provide flexibility, meaning fabric plasters are often tougher and harder to strip off than ordinary plastic-backed plasters. Also, some of these fabrics are hydrophobic, meaning they repel water droplets. If you're looking for waterproof plasters, they'll likely be made from fabric.
Another common type of plaster is blister plasters. Also known as blister bandages, these a type of adhesive bandage specifically designed to provide protection and cushioning for blisters. They typically consist of a pad made of a soft, flexible, gel-like material that conforms to the shape of the blister and a clear adhesive film that keeps the plaster securely in place. These plasters can be used to prevent blisters from forming or to protect existing blisters while they heal. They are often made of moisture-absorbing materials and breathable material to promote healing.
