How to pick the perfect Wella toner
As touched on above, some of the most popular Wella hair toners include their T18 and T14 solutions - that are commonly referred to as simply 'T18' and 'T14' due to their widespread popularity in both the UK and overseas, but what's the difference between the two toners? First and foremost, the right Wella toner will depend on your hair colour. Although both are designed for blonde hair, Wella T18 will provide you with better results if you have yellow tones in your hair. This is because it's primarily violet-based which helps to cancel out yellowness, but not orange.
For blonde hair with unwanted orange streaks, your best bet is to opt for Wella T14 which is more blue-based then violet. It's also important to mention that your hair needs to be a certain shade of light blonde (think banana yellow) before the Wella toner will have an effect. This is because although the Wella toner lightens hair, it does this by cancelling out tones already in the hair. If your hair is too dark, it will struggle to change the colour at all and may leave you feeling a little deflated. If this sounds like you, then you'll need to consider using either hair bleach or hair colour remover to lighten the hair first, then using a toner to banish any unwanted tones.
