GENERAL DESCRIPTION

blue shades is small and spring flowering from southeastern europe. blue shades is a ground-hugging hardy perennial that blooms showily in early spring. With upward-facing daisy-like blue flowers that have gold centres the soft, ferny, slightly hair leaves emerge in early spring and are soon followed by the short flower stems. Plants die back to black tuberous rhizomes that spread to form clumps.

blue shades has received the royal horticultural societys award of garden merit (agm) which is for plants of outstanding excellence.

Anemone blue shades can also be planted in the spring for summer flowering.

Happiest in a site shaded from hot sun, anemone blanda prefers rich, loamy soil, even moisture. This is a good plant for texture and colour in a container, naturalising in open woodland, or a rock garden. Flowers for 2-3 weeks and attracts butterflies. The flowers are excellent for cutting. They can also be forced into winter bloom. The bulbs are required to be soaked overnight in cool water before planting.

Anemones are notoriously difficult to become established and may take a couple of years to do so, so please be
patient.
