Tigridia Is A Tender, Bulbous, Summer-Growing Perennial From Mexico And Central And South America. The Flamboyantly Flowered Tigridia Pavona Looks Magnificent In Gardens.

The Spreading Clumps Of Narrow Pleated, Sword-Shaped Leaves Form Fans. They Give Rise To Unbranched Flower Stems That Bear Clusters Of Short Lived Flowers In Summer. The Flowers Are Of Exotic Beauty, Each One Lasts For Only A Day But A Succession Appears For Several Weeks At The End Of The Summer. The Colours Are Marvellous. The Orange, Yellow, Pink, Brown, Blue, Purple, Or White Blooms Are Triangular With Three Spreading Outer Petals And Three Smaller Inner Petals. The Inner Petals Often Bear Bold Contrasting Blotches.

These Cold-Tender, Sun-Loving Plants Grow Best In Fertile Well-Drained Soil. They Do Best With Relatively Moist Summers And Dry Winters.
