This 150W utility submersible cast aluminum water heater is designed to keep water from freezing in outdoor setups during cold weather. Sized at approximately 7.48 x 4.68 x 0.5 inches and weighing about 1.63 pounds, it fits easily into many common 5 gallon water containers, poultry drinkers, bird baths, Rubbermaid stock tanks with 1-1/2" threads, and other agricultural stock tanks. The cast aluminum body includes an anti-rust coating on the surface to help resist corrosion and support cleaner water over repeated use. A built-in automatic thermostat controller activates the heater when ambient temperatures fall below about 35F (2C) and disconnects power when temperatures approach about 77F (25C), helping manage energy use while maintaining liquid water. It is suitable for use in plastic, structural foam, and metal tanks, and can also be used to maintain an open ice hole to support oxygen circulation for fish in ponds. The upgraded power cord uses cold- and heat-resistant casing intended to remain flexible and stable in low temperatures. Setup is straightforward: place the unit in water, connect to a properly rated outlet, and allow the thermostat to regulate operation. The heater is intended for use in conditions down to -20F; colder temperatures may affect cord flexibility and performance.
