40" (101.5cm) Turquoise Chunky Zip - Heavy-Duty Open-Ended Separating

40" (101.5cm) Turquoise Chunky Zip - Heavy-Duty Open-Ended Separating Description

There's a real satisfaction in bringing a coat back to life, or finishing a make that holds together for years. This 40" (101. 5cm) turquoise Chunky Zip is built for exactly that: a heavy duty, open ended separating zip with moulded #5 resin teeth that glide smoothly and stay put, the kind of plastic chunky zip many crafters now choose over metal because it won't corrode, snag or unravel with everyday use. At 40" (101. 5cm) it's well suited to long coats, sleeping bags, tents, dog beds and large upholstery covers. The strong 5mm teeth and 25mm tape cope with thick, heavy and multi-layered fabrics, while the smooth non-locking metal slider keeps everything easy to open and close. Choosing the right zip is simple. Lay your old zip flat and measure the tape from top stopper to bottom stopper; that's the length to order, with your fabric opening sitting about 2 to 5cm shorter for seam allowance. This zip comes in 18 lengths from 6" to 40" and 29 accurately matched colours, so there's a size and shade for almost any project. A longer zip asks for a little patience rather than special skill: pin and tack it in place, stitch close to the teeth with a zipper foot, then open and close it a few times before you finish, and even a first long-zip replacement comes out neat and hard-wearing. Afterwards it's fully machine washable, colourfast and tumble dry friendly, so it launders with the garment and keeps its true turquoise colour wash after wash. At Giddy Square, a UK-based haberdashery, we make zips for people who care how things are made. Choose the right one once, fit it, and get back to the part you love.
