Summary
Roshield Mouse Traps
Quality traps for the control of house mice
This listing is for 6 x Mouse Traps & Instructions.
Quality mouse traps designed for the UK professional industry for reliable control of house mice within internal environments. Bait traps and place in the activity area, monitor and remove the bodies from the trap as required.
The number of traps required to control an infestation will vary depending on the population size. For a typical UK property, we would recommend 6-10 traps.
Recommended as the first choice before undertaking more aggressive rodenticide treatments or treating mice with known bait shyness.
What's the difference?
High strength spring
Its often for manufactures to save money by using fewer materials, often in and around the spring area. Our Roshield traps contain highly tensioned springs, with an additional fourth loop, that result in a kill bar that can undertake the necessary control action.
Sensitive trigger plate & catch
Often overlooked but again an essential part of the trap mechanism. Too hard and the trap will not fire, and too sensitive, the trap will fire before the mouse is in the ultimate position. We believe that our Roshield trap has the best balance, which results in a successful trigger, fewer misfires and quicker control results.
Instructions included the safe placement and trapping of mice within the package. Support how-to-set video also available.
It is important to follow the instructions and prevent children and non-target animals from gaining access. Placement should either be within enclosed environments such as mouse active voids, attic, sheds etc. If trapping externally, an additional tamper-resistant bait station (not included) should be used to restrict access.
Manufactured exclusively for Roshield.
Mousetraps will not work with mice - please see our rat trap versions if required.
Using traps to control rodents
Controlling rats and house mice using traps can be difficult and requires some understanding of the infestation, including why they are there, what they are feeding on and where they are active. Placement of traps without considering these factors will result in a low capture rate, avoidance of the trap and the most likely continuation of the problem.
Identifying and isolating their food is key for fast capture; otherwise, you will be competing against a more reliable and safer 'trusted' source. Rats are generally straight forward as they require approx. 50g per day and they generally nest as close as possible to the feeding area, i.e. chickens. Mice can be tricky as they only require 3g-5g of smaller food sources such as crumbs under the toaster. Identifying and removing the food source is key to sway them towards the traps.
Rodents do not like being active in open spaces and become incredibly cautious of new items they find; for this reason, we do not recommend placing traps in areas where they feel vulnerable, such as behind a sofa or in the hallway. It would help if you placed traps in voids away from human habitation such as under floorboards, kitchen cupboard plinths, airing cupboards and attic spaces for best results.
Placement of active traps should never be undertaken in open areas that have non-target animals or children active. If necessary, use a trap box to limit access.
We recommend using a sticky bait lure for the traps, as they are not as easily removed, and rodents have to take more time around the trap and hence likely put pressure on the trigger plate. You can use our Roshield trap bait, peanut butter or chocolate spread. We recommend placement of the lure in the bait cup, trigger plate, proximity of the traps on pipework etc., as this gives them the initial taste and encouragement of seeking out the source.
Rodent traps are straight forward to set, and we include instructions within the kit on how to set up the trap plus, we also have created some visual videos to help if required; we can send you the link if required.
Placement of several traps in different locations should be undertaken, especially for larger infestations, as this will increase the likelihood of capture. We do not recommend placing all the traps together as this can confuse rodents and delay the treatment's success.
Throughout the treatment, you should monitor the traps and bait lure inside and top up as necessary. When a body is within the trap, it should be removed as soon as possible and should not decay. Bodies can be double bagged, zip-tied and placed in the general waste.
