Synopsis:
This story truthfully portrays the heroic actions of Meipu (played by Bel Powley) during World War II and her selfless help to Anne and her family. In his twenties, Meipu responded to Otto's (Liev Schreiber) request and hid him and his family in his own home to escape Nazi persecution. She and her husband Yang decided to take on this dangerous and arduous task, including taking care of eight refugees including Otto and Anne. During this period, they faced great risks and pressures, but firmly protected these persecuted Jews, providing them with shelter and warmth.
Although their hiding plan was eventually exposed in 1944, Meipu preserved Anne's diary during her hiding period. These diaries were later compiled into the famous "Anne Frank Diaries", which became one of the most important historical documents after the war. After the war, Meipu and Yang established a social group to continue helping those who returned after the war and actively refuting doubts about the authenticity of Anne Frank's diary. Meipu passed away in 2010 at the age of 100. Her life witnessed the cruelty of war and the brilliance of humanity, and her bravery and selfless spirit will be forever remembered.
