Description

Acard contains acetylsalicylic acid, which inhibits platelet clumping (aggregation).

Composition

The active substance is acetylsalicylic acid.

One enteric-coated tablet contains 75 mg of acetylsalicylic acid.

The other ingredients are: powdered cellulose, corn starch, sodium starch glycolate; coating: hypromellose, methacrylic acid copolymer type C, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), colloidal anhydrous silica, sodium bicarbonate, sodium lauryl sulfate, triethyl citrate, antifoaming emulsion.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Consult your doctor before using Acard.

The following dosage is usually recommended:

1 tablet (75 mg) daily. The enteric-coated tablets should be taken after a meal and swallowed whole with a small amount of water. The enteric-coated Acard tablet is coated and does not disintegrate in the stomach, reducing the irritating effect of acetylsalicylic acid on the gastric mucosa.

For a recent heart attack or suspected recent heart attack: 4 enteric-coated tablets (300 mg) at a time. The tablets should be chewed very thoroughly to accelerate absorption.

Indications

Acard is used:

for the prevention of heart attack in high-risk individuals;

for the prevention of a recent heart attack or suspected recent heart attack;

for unstable angina;

for the prevention of a recurrent heart attack;

after surgical or interventional vascular procedures, such as coronary artery bypass grafting or coronary angioplasty;

for the prevention of transient ischemic attack and ischemic stroke, and after their recovery;

in individuals with peripheral arterial occlusive disease;

for the prevention of coronary thrombosis in patients with multiple risk factors;

for the prevention of venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients with prolonged immobilization.
