Summary
- A deliciously mature cheese with both savoury and naturally sweet notes
- Due to it's maturity, this cheese has developed calcium lactate crystals throughout the body of the cheese
- Barbers have their own farm of 2000 cows, all milk produced used for Barbers own cheeses
- Powerfully intense, with an exceptional depth of flavour. One of our favourite recipes is a Garlic Cheese dipping sauce made with grated 1833 Vintage Cheddar and with Cradocs crackers to dunk in.
- Back in 1833, Daniel Barber started making cheese at Maryland Farm, just a few miles from the village of Cheddar and deep in the heart of rural Somerset. Six generations later and the Barbers are still on the same farm.
Barbers 1833 Vintage Cheddar Reserve cheese - 1.2kg Description
TASTE: Barber's has a creamy texture and smooth finish, 1833 contains naturally- occurring crystals that give it a distinctive crunch. Refined sweet notes balance out its tangy sharpness.
ABOUT Barber's: Back in 1833, Daniel Barber started making cheese at Maryland Farm, just a few miles from the village of Cheddar and deep in the heart of rural Somerset. Six generations later and the Barbers are still on the same farm — now the oldest surviving cheddar-makers in the world.
QUALITY: Barber's 1833 is made using traditional starter cultures and the finest West Country milk. Aged for at least 24 months, only when one of the Barber family judges it to be outstanding does it leave the farm as in 1833. Barber's 1833 Vintage Reserve Cheddar represents the pinnacle of two centuries of cheesemaking
INSPIRATION: Powerfully intense, with an exceptional depth of flavour. One of our favourite recipes is a Garlic Cheese dipping sauce made with grated 1833 Vintage Cheddar and with Cradocs crackers to dunk in.
