Blackcurrant Standard Fruit Tree Ribes nigrum 80cm stem 100-120cm tall in 5L pot

Supplied as well established grafted plants with an approx 80cms clear stem and an overall height of around 120cms growing in approx. 5 litre containers. Self pollinating and very easy to grow and care for, in season, our plants will be supplied with plenty of tasty berries to whet your appetite straight away.

Blackcurrants, Ribes nigrum, are easy to grow, bearing masses of dark purple to black fruits in mid-summer. They have a tart flavour and are loaded with vitamin C. Eat them fresh off the bush or use them in pies, cordials and jams. Blackcurrants can be grown in open soil or in containers.

Grow your own berries in the garden. Make delicious juice or jam from the blackberry 'Little Black Sugar' (Ribes nigrum). The berries are large and have a lovely sweet taste. And they are full of vitamins and minerals. The fruit bush blossoms in the spring. With small, inconspicuous flowers. A crop will be ready to harvest from summer onwards in the second year after planting.
Prune the shrub in winter, but not when it is freezing. Completely cut away two to three older branches every year. This stimulates the production of new shoots that give the best fruit. Sufficient light is needed to ensure good growth. The fruit shrub grows best in the sun. It's best to give it extra water during dry spells.
