Reviews of BT Diverse 7100 Plus Handset and Charger

Good Robust Handset. Poor functionality with a BT Diverse 6210 base.
I'm happy with my purchase, especially at the price I paid.It functions well and is pretty robust.
It even has a jack socket and rear collar/waistband clip for hands-free use with a headset.
The sound quality was OK with my poor hearing as long as the volume was on max. ( I sometimes wear hearing aids socially).
Being GAP compatible, it will work with other GAP compatible DECT cordless base stations, however ...the handset does have its downsides, especially in GAP compatible use.
If used with its intended base, the only real downside is that the phone system stores its names & numbers on the handset not the base.
This is very user unfriendly & inconvenient as every handset has to have every new entry individually copied to it.
This can be done by copying an entry from one handset to another, so the entry does at least not have to be painstakingly input letter by letter & digit by digit.
The downsides for my use, which are because I am using the 7100 plus handset as an extra phone with a BT Diverse 6210 GAP compatible base station, were a little disappointing, as annoyingly, it lost an awful lot of its extra functionality.
1.) It was not possible to set the date and time on the handset.
2.)The call timer didn't work, so you have no idea how long you've been speaking for by looking at the handset display.
3.) It was not possible to copy directories to the other Diverse 6200 (different) handsets registered on the same base, so phone book entries all had to be input painstakingly letter by letter & digit by digit.
4.) The "Calls" feature didn't work, so you don't have a list of the last 30 callers.
This was all because I was using the 7100 plus handset as a GAP compatible handset and not with its intended base, so not faults with the handset.
In mitigation of the above downsides, I believe this would be the case using any handset as a GAP compatible handset, i.e. not with its intended base.
It seems with GAP compatibility, the compatibility extends to little more than making or taking calls and caller display if you are lucky.
It was also a bit tricky to register the phone with the base, but some perseverance paid off.
(I found out that the initial default registration with the base didn't work and that timing and order of certain button presses were important, but I can't recall the details now).
On the upside in GAP compatible use,
1.) The 7100 plus' phonebook/names feature worked fine (I think this must be stored on the handset so I think this would work with any GAP compatible base)
2.) Caller display worked properly... if a name was already associated with a number in the handset's phonebook, the name was displayed, otherwise the number was displayed.
3.) The intercom function worked.
Used with its fully compatible intended base, I expect the handset would work with its full functionality.
If I wanted to replace my whole system, I would certainly look favourably on a 7100 based system with the proper base that it is designed to work fully with.
