Getting your plants off to a good start

For ebb‑and‑flow systems, strong root development is crucial. Fill the containers with the 60/40 mix and feed with CANNA COCO A & B. Start with 1 ml per litre, up to a maximum of 4 ml per litre, depending on the crop. Plants can be set out immediately after filling. Do not switch to automated ebb‑and‑flow until roots have reached the bottom of the pots, which is typically 6-10 days. Once the roots have reached the bottom, follow the standard CANNA COCO feeding schedule, beginning with Vegetative Phase II.

Tips for watering from underneath

In ebb‑and‑flow systems, maintaining aeration of the substrate is essential. Once roots are visible at the bottom, consider these guidelines to optimize watering and feeding from below:

• In the first days, allow ample time between waterings to ensure the medium dries properly between feeds. Feeding once or twice a week is often sufficient.
• For crops requiring more frequent feeding, you may water every two days, but ensure the medium does not become waterlogged to maintain adequate root oxygen levels.
