This Carmotion CO2 Head Seal Leak Tester is designed to detect damage to the head seal and cylinder head in fluid-cooled combustion engines, including petrol, diesel, and LPG. It accurately identifies CO2 leaks within the cooling system by utilizing a specialized reaction fluid.

How it Works

When a head gasket or cylinder head is damaged, exhaust gases containing CO2 can enter the cooling system. This tester works by measuring the CO2 concentration. The included reaction fluid changes color upon contact with CO2, providing a clear visual indication of a leak.

How to Use

1. Fill the tester with approximately 2ml of reaction fluid between the chambers.
2. Connect the tester to the radiator or expansion tank opening.
3. Start the engine and allow it to warm up. Increase engine speed for higher combustion pressure.
4. Observe the reaction fluid for color change.
5. A color change to yellow or green within minutes indicates a damaged head gasket or cylinder head.
6. Carefully remove the instrument after testing.

Important Precautions

• When testing on a radiator filler neck, exercise extreme caution when unscrewing the cap and during the test due to potential hot coolant and steam.
• Ensure that the coolant does not mix with the reaction liquid, as this can invalidate the test results.
