All 6" Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope tubes fit this aluminum dew shield with cover cap. It is a crucial component for field protection of the tube. The dew shield lowers the Schmidt corrector lens' radiative cooling from the night sky, extending the time that the lens is below the dew point and prevents dew from condensing on the lens. By preventing stray light from entering the telescope, the aluminum dew shield also improves image contrast for improved viewing and astroimaging. With the knowledge that the Aluminum Dew Shield was made specifically for your instrument, you can use it with confidence on the 6" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope tube.

Construction:
The 6" Celestron telescope tubes fit perfectly and specifically with the Aluminum Dew Shield. A strong metal cylinder that will not fold, flex, or distort makes up the dew shield's exterior. The interior is lined with velvet, which absorbs extra stray light and extra moisture to produce the best contrast for viewing and photography. To ensure a tight fit, attach the dew shield to your telescope tube using the two adjustable clips.

The cover cap was similarly made from strong yet lightweight aluminum. Put the cover cap on your dew shield when your telescope is not in use to shield your Schmidt corrector from errant dust particles. You can quickly and conveniently acquire dark frames for imaging with the help of the cover cap.

You're undoubtedly accustomed to routing cables out the front of the dew shield if you prefer using your Schmidt-Cassegrain in the Fastar/Hyperstar configuration. With the built-in cable management slot at the base of the Aluminum Dew Shield, you can simplify and streamline your setup. With this slot, you have a simple way to contain important cables (such those for our Dew Heater rings) without running the risk of letting light pollution inside. Additionally, the top and bottom of the telescope tube have openings for dovetail rails, ensuring a tight fit no matter the setup.
