An important tool for field use is the Celestron Aluminium Dew Shield with Cover Cap, which shields the telescope tube from moisture.  In order to keep the Schmidt corrector lens below the dew point for a longer period of time and avoid dew formation on the lens, the dew shield lowers the radiative cooling of the lens to the night sky.  Additionally, the Aluminium Dew Shield improves viewing and astroimaging by reducing stray light entering the telescope and increasing image contrast.  Utilize the Aluminium Dew Shield with confidence on your 8" EdgeHD, RASA, or Schmidt Cassegrain telescope tube (produced after 2006), knowing that it was made for your specific instrument.

Construction

The 8" Celestron telescope tubes fit perfectly and specifically with the Aluminium Dew Shield. A strong metal cylinder that will not fold, flex, or distort makes up the dew shield's exterior. The interior is lined with velvet, which absorbs extra stray light and extra moisture to produce the best contrast for viewing and photography. To ensure a tight fit, attach the dew shield to your telescope tube using the two adjustable clips.

The cover cap was similarly made from strong yet lightweight aluminium. Put the cover cap on your dew shield when your telescope is not in use to shield your Schmidt corrector from errant dust particles. You can quickly and conveniently acquire dark frames for imaging with the help of the cover cap.

You're undoubtedly accustomed to running cables out the front of the dew shield if you prefer utilizing your Schmidt-Cassegrain or EdgeHD in the Fastar/Hyperstar setup or the RASA. With the built-in cable management slot at the base of the Aluminium Dew Shield, you can simplify and streamline your setup. With this slot, you have a simple way to contain important cables (such those for our Dew Heater rings) without running the risk of letting light pollution inside. Additionally, the top and bottom of the telescope tube have openings for dovetail rails, ensuring a tight fit no matter the setup.
