Concealed Post Support Bracket Hot Dip Galvanised 8mm Bolt Down Fence Pergola Post Base 70mm 90mm

Concealed Post Support Bracket Hot Dip Galvanised 8mm Bolt Down Fence Pergola Post Base 70mm 90mm Description

Hot-dip galvanised concealed base bracket for fence and pergola posts, made from 8mm S235 steel plate and available in two sizes - 70mm (2.75") and 90mm (3.54") - to suit the most common timber post sections. It bolts down directly to a concrete footing, and its defining feature is the concealed design: once the post is fitted, the fixing hardware sits largely out of view, giving a noticeably cleaner finish than a traditional exposed bracket where the base plate and bolts remain visible around the foot of the post.

Where an open, exposed bracket leaves its bolts, plate edges and fixing points on display around the base of the post, this concealed profile sits closer to the timber itself, tucking the hardware in and leaving a neater sightline - useful anywhere appearance matters as much as strength, such as pergolas, gazebos and garden structures that are in view from the house or a patio. That said, it isn't a lightweight decorative fitting: the base plate is a full 8mm thick and hot-dip galvanised for long-term outdoor corrosion resistance, so it's built to carry genuine structural load rather than simply dress up a post.

Key Features

• Hot-dip galvanised finish throughout - the whole bracket is dipped in molten zinc rather than just painted or plated, giving durable, long-term protection against rust and weathering in permanent outdoor use
• S235 structural steel construction, a grade suited to load-bearing hardware rather than light-duty fittings
• 8mm plate thickness - a substantial gauge that reflects the bracket's structural role supporting a post, not just holding it upright
• Concealed profile design keeps the fixing hardware largely hidden once the post is fitted, for a noticeably tidier finish than an exposed, bolt-visible bracket
• Available in two sizes - 70mm (2.75") and 90mm (3.54") post fittings - to match common timber post sections
• Bolts down directly to a cured concrete footing for a permanent, ground-level fixing
• Sold by size with two corresponding weights: 1.17kg for the 70mm bracket and 1.62kg for the 90mm, reflecting the larger footprint and post opening of the bigger size
• Suited to visible garden structures - pergolas, gazebos and similar builds - where a clean base finish matters as much as the fixing strength

Specification

• Material: S235 steel, hot-dip galvanised · Plate thickness: 8mm
• Sizes: 70mm (2.75") and 90mm (3.54") post fittings
• Unit weight: 1.17kg (70mm) / 1.62kg (90mm)

Typical Applications

Because it combines a concealed, tidy finish with a genuinely structural 8mm plate, this bracket suits any permanent, load-bearing timber post that's being set onto a concrete footing where the base will stay visible once the project is finished:

• Fence posts, particularly on runs where an exposed bracket's bolts and plate edges would otherwise be an obvious feature at ground level
• Pergola posts, where the base often sits on show at the edge of a patio or deck and a neat finish matters as much as holding up the roof structure above
• Gazebo posts and similar garden buildings, for the same combination of a visible base and a permanent, load-bearing fixing
• Other vertical timber posts and structural uprights that need a permanent, concrete-set fixing rather than a temporary or adjustable one
• Projects where the post is being fixed onto an existing, cured concrete base, since the bracket is designed to bolt onto set concrete rather than being cast in while the footing is poured

Installation Guidance

Fitting a concealed bracket like this is straightforward, but it pays to take care at the base-plate stage, since the fixing becomes much harder to see or adjust once the post is on:

• Let the concrete footing cure fully before fixing the bracket to it - fixing into wet or uncured concrete won't let the anchors reach their full holding strength
• Position the base plate on the footing, check it's square to the fence line or structure, and mark the fixing points
• Drill the footing and fit anchors suitably rated for the fixing depth and expected load, then bolt the base plate down
• Check the plate is sitting level before going any further - because the design is concealed, it's much harder to correct once the post is fitted, so it's worth getting this step right first time
• Fit the timber post - 70mm or 90mm section, matched to the bracket size - into the concealed upper section and check it for plumb with a spirit level
• Secure the post using the bracket's fixing points, which are largely hidden from view once the job is finished
