Dorminox 7 coated tablets, extends the duration of sleep

Dorminox ®  is a film-coated tablet drug indicated for the short-term treatment of symptoms of sporadic insomnia in adults. The active substance of the drug is doxylamine, which belongs to the group of antihistamines with hypnotic and sedative effects.

Sleep is an extremely important element of the circadian rhythm of every person. Sleep disorders can negatively affect physiological processes, as well as lead to a decrease in psychophysical efficiency. Insomnia can be said to occur, among other things, when the time to fall asleep exceeds half an hour, the total time waking up during the night lasts longer than half an hour, such a disruption occurs for at least three nights in a given week and poor sleep quality causes fatigue or reduced psychophysical efficiency during the day.

A temporary sleep disorder usually lasts for a few days and may be related to certain factors, such as illness, anxiety, noise, but also inappropriate ambient temperature or time zone change. Typical symptoms of insomnia include not only difficulty falling asleep, but also frequent nighttime awakenings and/or early morning wake-ups.

Doxylamine has a strong sleep-inducing and sedative effect. This substance effectively shortens the waiting time to fall asleep, while extending the duration and increasing the depth of sleep. The sleep-inducing effect is achieved within 30 minutes and lasts for 6-8 hours after taking the preparation.

Dorminox ®  can be used symptomatically in sporadic sleep disorders. Treatment usually lasts from a few days to 1 week. Importantly, the product used according to the leaflet does not show any addictive effects.

Short-term, symptomatic treatment of occasional insomnia in adults.

Dorminox ®  contains a substance called doxylamine, which:

• shortens the time it takes to fall asleep,
• extends the duration of sleep,
• increases the depth of sleep,
• has a sleep-inducing and calming effect.

• Adults:  the recommended starting dose is 1 tablet (12.5 mg) taken 30 minutes before bedtime.
• The dose may be increased to 25 mg (2 tablets) if the initial dose does not provide sufficient relief from insomnia symptoms.
• Before taking doxylamine, make sure you have enough time to sleep (8 hours) to avoid drowsiness the next morning.
• If you feel sleepy during the day, it is recommended to take your dose earlier to ensure that there is at least an 8-hour interval between taking the medication and waking up, or if you have taken a dose of 25 mg, reduce the dose next time to 12.5 mg (1 tablet).
• Do not take more than 2 tablets (25 mg) per day.
• Patients with persistent sleep problems should consult their physician.
• The tablets should be swallowed half an hour before planned sleep, with an appropriate amount of fluid (e.g. a glass of water).
• The medicine can be taken with or after food.
• The score line on the tablet is only to facilitate breaking for easier swallowing and not to divide into equal doses.

Treatment should be as short as possible. Treatment usually lasts from a few days to one week. Dorminox ®  should not be used for longer than 7 days without consulting a doctor.
