That is, for a single LED displaying red, green, or blue at maximum brightness, the current draw is 17mA. For white at maximum brightness, the current draw is 17 x 3 = 51mA. For a large number of LEDs ( 40), avoid constant white lighting, which can cause excessive overheating.
