Gooseberry Hinnonmaki Green.

Gooseberry Hinnonmaki Green. Description

Gooseberry Hinnonmaki Green. A vigorous and extremely hardy gooseberry bred in Finland. Hinnonmaki Green shows great disease resistance and is also hailed as being resistant to powdery mildew. Heavy crops of larger than average green berries are reliably produced and are ready for picking from mid-July. Juicy and sweet the fruits have a delicious aromatic flavour and can be eaten straight from the bush however, Hinnonmaki Green gooseberries can be used for making jams, pies, preserves and they also freeze well. Gooseberries will tolerate a wide range of conditions but prefer a moist, well-drained soil. They crop best in full sun but will tolerate a little light shade and can also be grown and cropped successfully in large containers. When growing Hinnonmaki Green in the ground plants should be 1.5m apart. Slow growing and seldom reaching more than 1.3m high makes this an excellent choice of gooseberry for the smaller garden.
