Fishing with a speargun, of whatever design, is one of the oldest ways of catching fish ever. In its simplicity, it is actually a shorter or longer rod with a tip adapted for catching fish - most often a so-called trident or multiple tip with reverse hooks. The speargun presented here is similarly constructed, often referred to simply as a Hawai rod.

The Hawai pole can be used simply as a spear, using your skill, speed and strengthor as a simple firearm, where the body of the speargun together with the tip forms a massive steel projectile that is ejected by means of a stretched rubber band. It is, in fact, a kind of sling. The range of the ejected trident is approximately half a metre and is therefore suitable for fishing in small to medium-sized streams and rivers.

With the Hawaii harpoon, if you arearmed with a good deal of patience and experience , you can catch any fish that you are able to encounter in those streams (trout, pike, parma, and so on). But you can also catch fish with this speargun in backwaters or blinds. You just need to find a suitable spot, or create such a spot with a suitable and regular bait.
