Potentilla ABBOTSWOOD.

An attractive dwarf shrub of dense spreading habit, also known as Shrubby Cinquefoil or Bush Cinquefoil.

Dark green foliage with the leaves divided into 5-7 narrow leaflets.

From late spring until late autumn Potentilla Abbotswood carries an abundance of pure white buttercup shaped flowers at the end of the branches and these eye-catching blooms contrast well with the dark, ferny foliage.

As the branches of the plant age and mature the bark begins to peel giving it a wonderful almost artistic appearance.

Slow growing and long lived, Abbotswood will reach only 24 inches tall with a similar width when fully grown and can be expected to live around 30 years.

Great shrub for the front of mixed borders yet it is adaptable enough to make a fine low growing hedge and can also be used as a spot plant or planted en-mass.

Prefers a site in full sun and although unfussy about soil type has a strong dislike for wet soil and is reputed to be drought tolerant once established.

Because of its high urban pollution tolerance Potentilla is often used in inner city planting schemes.

Excellent for attracting butterflies and other beneficial insects to the garden..

A very low maintenance shrub but any pruning necessary should be carried out in late winter.

Someone once described Potentilla as follows and I quote "the ultimate flowering shrub for northern gardens, hardy, tough and adaptable to all conditions" --- who am I to disagree.

Potentilla Abbotswood holds a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil. We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Potentilla Abbotswood will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission for their return. Refunds will be issued after items are received back in a saleable condition within 14 days from original dispatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been shipped in error.
