Replica WW1 trench whistle. This type of whistle was used to sound the dreaded "OVER THE TOP" command. Whistles were also used as audible warnings to alert troops of enemy gas attacks - hopefully allowing them time to don gas masks. Authentically stamped with date of issue and an arrow which was used to show this was property of the British Empire - this symbol is commonly known as the Crows foot (Government property).
