Sony's first 16-55mm APS-C zoom (24-82.5mm full-frame equivalent) with constant F2.8 aperture is very compact, but with the performance of the G series lenses. The new design Optical offers excellent resolution from corner to corner and has an attractive bokeh effect. It is compact, lightweight and ideal for numerous subjects. Two AA (advanced aspherical) and two aspherical elements reduce distortion for great full-G lens resolution, and three ED (ultra-low dispersion) glass minimize color flare. Sony's anti-reflective nano coating resists flare and ghosting for sharp contrast. Spherical distortion control and 9-blade circular aperture smooth out bokeh. This APS-C lens uses the same advanced XD (eXtreme Dynamic) linear motor as the G Master series lenses. The XD linear motor harnesses the full potential of the camera body, focusing and tracking even fast-moving subjects with astonishing speed and precision. Operation is also silent, so videographers can take advantage of the constant F2.8 aperture.
