Speed USB to UART SPI I2C Converter Module, Single Channel Serial Interface for Embedded Development Description

performance singlechannel USB to serial and parallel interface module for embedded development and testing. The onchip USB handling removes the need for USB firmware development, while flexible interface modes and data rates simplify integration with microcontrollers, test fixtures, and development boards. Key benefits No USB firmware required: the chip implements the entire USB protocol, so no USBspecific firmware development is needed. Flexible interface options: use UART, synchronous or asynchronous FIFO, JTAG, SPI master, I2C, bitbang, FT1248, CPUFIFO, or a fast serial interface to match a wide range of targets. throughput: supports USB 2.0 speed (480 Mbit/s) and fullspeed (12 Mbit/s) operation for fast data transfer. Simple integration: CPUFIFO mode and standard drivers reduce hostside development effort. Ready for prototyping and production: compact module with pin headers for quick connection to target hardware. Key features Single channel USB to serial and parallel ports with multiple configurable modes. Onchip USB protocol handling; no USBspecific firmware programming required. USB 2.0 speed and fullspeed compatible. MultiProtocol Synchronous Serial Engine (MPSSE) to simplify USB to JTAG, I2C, SPI (MASTER) or bitbang implementations. UART data transfer up to 12 Mbaud. Note: RS232 signaling rates are limited by the external level shifter used. USB to synchronous 245 parallel FIFO transfers up to 40 megabytes per second. USB to asynchronous 245 FIFO transfers up to 8 megabytes per second. Support for halfduplex FT1248 interface with configurable data bus width and bidirectional operation. Bus width can be 1, 2, 4, or 8 bits. CPUFIFO interface mode to simplify direct CPU target connections. Fast serial interface option for lowlatency serial communication. Virtual COM Port (VCP) and D2XX direct drivers available, removing the need for custom USB driver development in most cases. Adjustable receive buffer timeout to tune latency and throughput. Compatibility and typical applications Singlechip USB to UART for RS232, RS422, or RS485 topologies (external transceivers required for line drivers). USB to FIFO for speed parallel data transfer. USB to FT1248 for halfduplex parallel peripheral interfaces. USB to JTAG for target programming and boundaryscan testing. USB to SPI (master) for peripheral control and flash programming. USB to I2C for sensor and EEPROM access. USB to bitbang for custom GPIO toggling and simple protocols. USB to fast serial interface or CPU target interface for memorymapped or FIFObased communication. Practical use scenarios Debugging and programming: connect a PC to a microcontroller or FPGA JTAG port for insystem programming and debugging using the MPSSE. Data acquisition gateway: stream sensor or ADC data into a host PC using synchronous 245 FIFO mode at throughput. Peripheral bridge: convert USB into SPI or I2C to control external devices from a PC or embedded host without writing USB firmware. Physical and package details Condition: module Package includes: 1 x Module, 3 x Pin Header Compact module form factor for easy integration onto development boards or into custom fixtures. Performance notes Achievable UART and FIFO throughput depends on host drivers, host USB controller, cabling, and any external level shifters or transceivers. RS232 signaling requires an external level shifter and its maximum baud rate may limit UART speed. This module provides a versatile, speed USB bridge that reduces development time by handling USB protocol onchip while offering multiple serial and parallel interface modes for a wide range of embedded and test applications.
